Licensure and Practice Disclaimer
Effective Date: Februrary 2026
At Common Ground Therapy & Wellness PLLC, we are committed to providing high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based mental health services. This disclaimer outlines important information about licensure, practice scope, and professional limitations.
1. Licensure and Professional Qualifications
Therapy services are provided by Kelsey T. Ellis, PhD, LCP, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia (License No. 0810008505).
Dr. Ellis maintains an active license in good standing with the Virginia Board of Psychology and adheres to the ethical standards set forth by the American Psychological Association (APA) Code of Ethics.
2. Practice Location and Telehealth Services
Common Ground Therapy & Wellness PLLC is based in Chesapeake, Virginia and offers services exclusively via telehealth.
Dr. Ellis is licensed in Virginia and is also authorized to practice telepsychology through PSYPACT (the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact) through the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT).
This means telehealth services may be available to clients who are physically located in Virginia or in a participating PSYPACT state at the time of their session.
Telehealth services are provided based on the client’s physical location at the time of session. If you relocate or travel, please notify your therapist, as your ability to continue services may depend on whether you are located in an eligible jurisdiction during appointments.
3. Verifying Your Location
Because licensure and practice rules depend on the client’s location during the appointment, you may be asked at the start of each telehealth session to confirm your current physical location (state) and provide an emergency contact.
4. Jurisdictional Limitations
If you are physically located outside of Virginia and outside of PSYPACT participating jurisdictions at the time of your session, services cannot be provided.
5. Scope of Services
Our services include individual psychotherapy for adults, specializing in trauma-informed care, perinatal and postpartum mental health, anxiety, and relationship concerns. All therapy is conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.
The information on this website—including articles, blog posts, or educational resources—is intended for general informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute psychological advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Engaging with this website or social media content does not establish a therapeutic relationship.
6. Limitations of Telehealth
Telehealth is a safe and effective mode of treatment for many individuals, but it may not be appropriate in all cases. Your therapist will work with you to determine whether telehealth services meet your clinical needs and may recommend in-person care or additional resources if needed.
7. Emergency and Crisis Situations
Common Ground Therapy & Wellness PLLC does not provide emergency or crisis mental health services. If you are in crisis or experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
If you need immediate mental health support, you can contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988 or visiting 988lifeline.org.
