Licensure and Practice Disclaimer
Effective Date: November 2025
At Common Ground Therapy & Wellness PLLC, we are committed to providing high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based mental health services. This disclaimer outlines important information about licensure, practice scope, and professional limitations.
1. Licensure and Professional Qualifications
Therapy services are provided by Kelsey T. Ellis, PhD, LCP, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia (License No. 0810008505).
Dr. Ellis maintains an active license in good standing with the Virginia Board of Psychology and adheres to the ethical standards set forth by the American Psychological Association (APA) Code of Ethics.
2. Practice Location and Telehealth Services
Common Ground Therapy & Wellness PLLC is based in Chesapeake, Virginia and offers services exclusively via telehealth to clients who are physically located within the state of Virginia at the time of their session.
Due to licensing laws, Dr. Ellis is unable to provide psychological services to clients located outside of Virginia, even temporarily. If you relocate or travel out of state, please notify your therapist, as this may affect ongoing services.
3. Scope of Services
Our services include individual psychotherapy for adults, specializing in trauma-informed care, perinatal and postpartum mental health, anxiety, and relationship concerns. All therapy is conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.
The information on this website—including articles, blog posts, or educational resources—is intended for general informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute psychological advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Engaging with this website or social media content does not establish a therapeutic relationship.
4. Limitations of Telehealth
Telehealth is a safe and effective mode of treatment for many individuals, but it may not be appropriate in all cases. Your therapist will work with you to determine whether telehealth services meet your clinical needs and may recommend in-person care or additional resources if needed.
5. Emergency and Crisis Situations
Common Ground Therapy & Wellness PLLC does not provide emergency or crisis mental health services. If you are in crisis or experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
If you need immediate mental health support, you can contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988 or visiting 988lifeline.org.
6. No Guarantee of Outcomes
While therapy can be highly effective, individual outcomes vary based on many factors, including client participation, therapeutic approach, and personal circumstances. No specific results or improvements can be guaranteed.
7. Legal and Ethical Standards
Common Ground Therapy & Wellness PLLC complies with all applicable federal and state regulations, including HIPAA. Dr. Ellis maintains professional boundaries and confidentiality as required by Virginia law and the ethical standards of her licensing board.
