Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. All sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. You can join from the comfort of your home, office, or any private space. I work with adults located anywhere in Virginia.

  • I meet with clients during weekday evenings, 4:00–7:00 PM, to make therapy more accessible after typical work hours.

  • Yes. If you plan to use insurance, billing is managed through Headway, a secure platform that handles insurance verification, claims, and payment processing.

    I am currently in-network with:

    • Aetna (Virginia plans)

    • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (Virginia plans)

    • Carelon Behavioral Health (Virginia plans)

    • Quest Behavioral Health (Virginia plans)

If you choose to use insurance, you’ll receive an invitation to create a Headway account, where you can enter your insurance information, review your benefits, and add a payment method for any copays or deductibles.

See my Using Your Insurance for Therapy page for more details.

  • If I’m not in-network with your insurance plan, you’re still welcome to work with me on a self-pay basis. Some insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits, which may allow you to receive partial reimbursement for services.

If you’d like to explore this option, I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

See my Understanding Out-of-Network Insurance Benefits page for more details.

  • You’re welcome to choose self-pay for services, whether you don’t have insurance or prefer not to use it. Some clients choose this option for greater privacy, flexibility, or to avoid diagnostic requirements associated with insurance.

See my Services page for more details.

  • Our first session is about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you hope to get out of it, and set a pace that feels manageable and comfortable. It’s also a chance to see if we’re a good fit — therapy works best when you feel safe and understood.

  • Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build consistency and momentum. Over time, we may adjust to bi-weekly or as-needed sessions depending on your goals and progress.

  • Absolutely. Research shows that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person care. Many clients even prefer it — you can meet from a space that feels safe, save travel time, and still experience meaningful connection and growth.

  • Yes—if you are located in a state that participates in PSYPACT, I’m able to provide telehealth services across state lines.

At this time, insurance is only accepted for clients located in Virginia. Clients outside of Virginia are welcome to work with me on a self-pay basis.

See my PSYPACT & Telehealth Across Statelines page for more details.

  • You can get started in whatever way feels easiest for you. You can book a free consultation using the button at the bottom of this page, call me at (757) 945-1682, or send me a message through the Contact page. From there, I’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions you might have.

  • I’m currently at capacity and maintaining a waitlist for new clients. If you reach out, you’ll have the option to schedule a brief consultation so we can connect and see if it feels like a good fit.

As openings become available, I reach out to individuals on the waitlist in order of contact and based on scheduling fit. Openings are expected to become available in June 2026, though timing can vary.
